BBL (BroadBand Light)

Broadband light for selected pigmentation, redness and acne concerns.

What is it used for?

BBL (BroadBand Light) is an IPL technology that uses filtered broadband light. It may be considered for sun spots and freckles, persistent rosacea-related redness and visible superficial vessels, selected inflammatory acne and uneven tone from sun damage. Treatment is planned for the skin type and target concern.

How is BBL performed?

The skin is cleansed, appropriate eye protection is provided and light pulses are delivered through the selected filter. Cooling and settings are adjusted to the skin. Brief warmth or a snapping sensation may be felt. Examination guides the area, number and spacing of sessions; rosacea care may also include medicines and skin care.

Before treatment

Discuss recent tanning, medicines, skin products, cold sores and previous procedures. Tanned or irritated skin needs assessment. A new or changing pigmented lesion is diagnosed before treatment.

After treatment

Protect the skin from the sun and use the recommended broad-spectrum sunscreen. Do not pick darkened spots or fine crusts. Postpone very hot showers, saunas and strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours; follow your gentle cleansing and moisturizing plan.
