Genital warts and molluscum

Information about two different viral skin conditions.

Different conditions

Genital warts are associated with human papillomavirus (HPV). Molluscum is a contagious skin condition caused by a different virus, usually producing small bumps. Examination matters because appearances can overlap.

Assessment and management

Assessment considers the location and extent of lesions, age and immune status. Observation or treatment depends on the diagnosis. Do not apply wart medicines or acids to a new genital lesion without medical assessment.

Diagnosis, treatment and follow-up

We provide diagnosis, treatment and follow-up. Your treatment plan is tailored to the dermatological examination and any investigations needed.

This content provides general health information. Diagnosis and individualized treatment require a medical assessment.
